BEST BRAS FOR POST SURGERY
SHARING A FEW OF MY FAVORITE BRAS FOR ALL STAGES OF SURGERY RECOVERY
SURGICAL BRA // FOR IMMEDIATELY POST SURGERY
Front Closure Bra
Immediately post-op you will most likely have limited range of motion so having a bra that opens in the front will be the best and easiest option for you!
AnaOno is made for women with breast cancer by women with breast cancer. It was founded by Dana, a breast cancer survivor.
“I founded AnaOno after I was diagnosed with Ductal Carcinoma at the age of 27. I began to design the first pieces out of my own necessity and desire for pretty, sexy, beautiful lingerie during a recovery period that was everything but.
I made it my mission to design specifically for those who’ve had breast reconstruction, breast surgery, mastectomy, or are living with other conditions that cause pain or discomfort because I believe that comfort should not be a compromise.”
**You can also order these bras through your insurance company as they are considered a medical expense**
SOFT BRA // 3 -6 MONTHS POST-OP
Seamless Bra
A soft seamless bra is ideal when you are no longer needing a surgical bra but still need something soft with a little extra support that won’t agitate your sensitive skin.
Third Love makes an incredible option (that I still wear to this day) that is so comfortable you forget you are even wearing it.
A few things that I love about Third Love:
-their Fit Finder quiz is a life changer! I had nooo clue what size I was after surgery until taking their quiz. I'm a 34 D
-you can try any bra for 60 days and if you don’t love it, you can send it back and they will donate it to a woman in need!
-they have 78 sizes, from AA to I cup, and since a lot of us Breasties fall in between classic sizing, they offer HALF CUP SIZES
-the material is super soft, the front detailing is sexy, the straps don’t dig, and neither does the band. I forget I’m even wearing it.
-I’ve been living in my @thirdlove Seamless Stripe Wireless Bra (pictured above!)
I also love the triangle convertible strap bra from True&Co pictured below.
I love this bra because you can wear it during all stages of recovery, while I am not a surgeon and you should always consult with your team when making medical decisions, I wish I had this bra when I was a month or two out of surgery! It is perfect for when you are healing and want something comfortable, soft but also supportive! This bra covers the scars perfectly and holds the foobs in place so nicely! You can barely tell that you are wearing it and it has the softest fabric so you can easily sleep in this bra without feeling irritated.
True&Co also makes an amazing “true body lift v neck racerback” I think this is an amazing post mastectomy/ surgery bra! It is full coverage, soo supportive, and it fits more like a crop top so you don’t have to worry about the bra irritating your incisions or scars! If you are looking for that extra support, this bra is great, and I sleep in it often! It is super stretchy and very easy to get into! Pro-tip: step into it instead of pulling it on over your head post-surgery to make it easier for yourself!!
SEAMLESS SUPPORT // 6 MONTHS - 1 YEAR POST OP
Supportive Bra
This bra is ideal when you are looking for a little bit more support.
I love that this bra lifts and pulls my foobs together and keeps them in place even when I bend forward (if you've had reconstruction, you KNOW how key this is!)
I love this option from Wacoal for a few reasons:
This bra has super soft fabrics with lots of flexibility.
It doesn’t have elastics that dig in or make ridges on my sides.
It is super lightweight but yet strong enough to keep my girls together.
The straps stay in place - without tugging or slipping.
I love the wire free design with surprising uplift!! This is KEY since us Breasties aren’t supposed to wear anything with an underwire.
BRALETTE // 1 YEAR POST OP +
Sexy and comfortable
AnaOno has the BEST bralettes! They are super cute, sooo comfortable, and make your foobs feel supported and amazing. These two are my absolute favorites.
After about a year post-op I was able to wear pretty much whatever I wanted to.
Every now and then I will wear a push-up type bra but on most days, if I am not going braless and flawless, I am rocking one of these two bras above!
I also love the Madison Lace Bralette by True&co! I love this bra so much! It is made with stretch lace and smoothing fabric that is soo soft. It is comfy and supportive and keeps the foobs in place SO well! I like to wear around the house, under a T-shirt, poking out if I want to feel extra sexy!
I hope this was helpful for you as you navigate life post-op!! If you have any bra recs I would love if you dropped them below! xx
