THE GREAT DEBATE: TO WEAR OR NOT TO WEAR A BRA AFTER SURGERY?
I am not a medical professional buttt I have a theory... 🤔
First a question that I would LOVE for you to answer below in the comments: were you told to wear a bra after your mastectomy??
I was not. I came out of surgery with nothing but a few bandages over my scars. My plastic surgeon not only told me that I didn’t need to wear a bra, that it wouldn’t make a difference, but that I shouldn't wear one. So obviously I never did! And in all honestly I was excited about it!
Wearing a bra post mastectomy or reconstruction surgery is uncomfortable.
I was glad to be braless!
But I am convinced (this is my theory 🧐) that my Foobs have completely shifted out of their pocket and farther into my armpits partially BECAUSE I never wore a bra post surgery to hold them into place. This has caused major back pain, chest pain, and I’m starting to see some stretch marks coming in!!
Most of my breastie friends who DID wear bras post surgery don’t have this same problem!! Coincidence? I think not....
Soo if I could go back and do it all again, I would have specifically asked my surgeon or advocated that I be put in a bra after surgery.
Since I can’t do that, I’ve been wearing a bra 24/7 to help with the pain and shifting. I am hoping this helps for now as a temporary solution. Any and all bra recs for sleeping would be greatly appreciated!! Please drop them below in the comments 🙏🏼💕✨
